​Our school offers complementary courses to suit our students’ unique learning needs, interests and abilities. All of our courses follow the Alberta Programs of Study.

The following courses are available for SENIOR HIGH students. (For junior high students in Grades 7 to 9, check out the CTF course offerings listed on our website.)


Essentials for Online Learning Success

COM 1255: e-learning and Learning Management Systems (1 credit)

  • Pre-requisite - none

"Essentials" is a course for all students new to CBe-learn Senior High School. This course serves as a student overview and an orientation to online learning skills and strategies, Desire2Learn tools, and CBe-learn school policies and procedures. The course is designed to be completed in a short amount of time.

NOTE: This course is not mandatory, but students new to online learning are strongly encouraged to take it.

Leadership

In this course, students explore basic principles of leadership and evaluate their leadership characteristics and qualities. They will develop a plan for their personal growth as a member of a student leadership team. Students will examine effective communication, public speaking and presentation skills to deliver the student leadership goals and initiatives to the school population. Students will also explore and employ fundamental elements and principles of design for different media forms (e.g., photography, print, Web and audio or video production) to plan, create and present leadership messages and projects with impact.

NOTE: This course is for full-time students only and requires occasional on-site and in-person participation for school-wide projects and initiatives. Semester 2 participation is required, along with optional additional credits.
