In-Person Assessments
In-person assessments are mandatory for most CBe-learn high school courses*. In exceptional circumstances that interfere with a student’s ability to attend originally scheduled assessments, such as illness**, teachers will work with individual students to reschedule based on documentation and recommendations from a medical professional.
Students who have not completed all required in-person assessments will not complete the course at the end of the semester. In such cases, no final mark or credit can be awarded and the student will ordinarily be withdrawn. Provincial requirements apply for all courses with a diploma exam, which must also be written in person before successful course completion.
*Courses with mandatory assessments are subject to change. At the teacher’s discretion, students may also be required to complete additional in-person assessments, based on the need to gather the necessary evidence of learning.
**A doctor’s note is required.
Location
If you are late to a scheduled assessment, you may still have the chance to write but will have a reduced amount of time. Please plan your time wisely when booking in the Test Centre.
The Test Centre is located in Lord Shaughnessy High School: 2336 53 Avenue SW.
Enter at the Front Entrance (see map above) and look for signs with directions to the Test Centre. Parking for students can be accessed off 21st St SW, between Central Memorial High School and Lord Shaughnessy High School. Students can also park on the north side of 53rd Ave.
*Please do not park on the south side of 53rd Ave - this is permit parking for residents of the community only. A parking violation ticket will be issued if parked here.
Hours of Operation
Please consult with your specific course requirements to plan your assessment date and time.
Booking a Seat
Please work with your teacher to book a seat in the Test Centre.
Extra Time
Assessments in our Test Centre are designed to take no more than 1.5 hours to write. Our time slots are 3 hours long to allow all students to take up to double time. If you arrive late for your time slot you will still need to finish your assessment when the time slot ends, so arriving a few minutes early is strongly recommended.
Accommodations
Other than extra time (granted to all students), any other accommodations noted in a student’s IPP must be made in advance with your teacher by sending them a private discussion message. Please follow their direction for accessing your IPP accommodations.
